In the past few years the Early Music Scene has grown in popularity with recent exposure resulting in schools and universities offering viola da gamba as one of the instruments that they teach. This growing curiosity is bringing a number of new players to the market resulting in a demand for high quality affordable instruments. To help these new players into the field I've decided to offer student level instruments. They are made from select quality tonewood, but lack the bells and whistles** of my professional line.
My professional line of instruments are designed to be suitable from the serious amateur to the touring professional. If you've been playing for a few years and require an instrument with more nuance then this is the line for you. It offers more options from which the player can choose (choice of materials, body style, and decoration), resulting in an instrument that could be a copy of an existing historical example or a personalized one-off creation. Whenever possible I find that it is best to work closely with the player in order to fully understand their need.
